Kaumarbhritya (कौमारभृत्य) is the branch dedicated to child healthcare, extending from conception and intrauterine life through infancy (Ksheerapa), toddlerhood (Ksheerannada), and adolescence (Annada). Anchored by the authority of the ancient text Kashyapa Samhita, Kaumarbhritya addresses both the prophylactic and therapeutic aspects of child wellness.

Children are considered 'Sukumara' (delicate in constitution) with immature Dhatus and unripened metabolic systems, requiring gentle yet effective dosages of herbal remedies devoid of harsh purgatives or intense treatments.
