Rasayana & Jara Chikitsa

Rasayana (रसायन) literally translates to 'the path that Rasa (the supreme essence of nutrition and plasma) travels.' It is the science of optimal cellular replenishment, immunomodulation, and longevity. Jara Chikitsa focuses specifically on geriatrics and the mitigation of age-related degenerative processes.

Acharya Charaka proclaimed: 'Labhopayo hi shastanam rasadinam rasayanam' — Rasayana is the therapeutic modality through which one attains premier qualitative excellence of the bodily tissues (Dhatus), longevity (Dirgham Ayush), sharp intellect (Medha), supreme immunity (Vyadhikshamatwa), youthful vitality (Vayah Sthapanam), and sensory luminescence.

Rasayana is implemented in two classical formats:
